Massimo Dutti Spring Summer 09
The Massimo Dutti spring summer 2009 catalogue simply exudes luxury and tradition.
Its production is full of highly sophisticated touches: the binding in board with a cloth spine and polished gold stamping, the end sheets in black Siro paper and the tracing paper part-title pages which open each section of the catalogue, etc.
The cover
The board cover comprises 2 sheets of 2.5 mm grey board joined by a black cloth spine and lined with embossed paper, printed with ink and stamping.
It is joined to the inner pages of the catalogue by two matte Sirio Black paper end sheets.
- Paper: White Zanders Efalin "new embossed fabric" 120 g
- Colours: two colours one side (Pantone ivory and black) + matte flat varnish coating 1 side
- Size (open): 374 x 258 mm
- Print finishing: polished gold stamping (measurements 70 x 10 mm)
- Print finishing: production of board binding, lined over grey 2.5 mm board. Black cloth spine (IRIS 101/826) under the paper.

The end sheets
The inner pages of the catalogue and the board cover are joined by 2 elegant sized Sirio Black paper end sheets.
- Paper: Sirio Black 170 g (with no printing)
The inner pages
An excellent reproduction of the monochrome photos was obtained using duotone printing (black and light grey Pantone spot ink) in stochastic screening.
- Pages: 40
- Paper: Mega Silk 170 g
- Colours: two colours both sides (duotone black + Pantone grey) + varnish 2 sides
The black + grey duotone reproduces the black and white spectacularly.

Even very light-coloured garments with high-contrast light show up in surprising detail.
Tracing paper part-title pages
Another feature of the catalogue is the part-title pages that open each section. These are printed on tracing paper and inserted into the binding.
- Paper: tracing paper (natural colour) 180 g
- Colours: one colour one side (black) + protective varnish 1 side
The graphic design employs tracing paper transparencies to open each section of the catalogue.
Immaculate typographic compositions on the tracing paper interplay with the lines that make up the photos showing through from below.

The sheets of tracing paper create a rich visual texture, at the same time as they allow the campaign photo to be viewed independently.
Binding
The inside of the catalogue is soft bound (milled with PUR glue) and glued to the hard cover by means of the Sirio Black end sheets.
